Jesus’s story is first and foremost about the love of God for every single one of us.
Jesus’s story has been hijacked by a number of other stories,
Often times when I meet atheists and we talk about the god they don’t believe in, we quickly discover that I don’t believe in that god either.
I’ve heard pastors answer, “It will be unlike anything we can comprehend, like a church service that goes on forever,” causing some to think, “That sounds more like hell.”
Jesus doesn’t tell people how to “go to heaven.” It wasn’t what Jesus came to do.
God has been looking for partners since the beginning, people who will take seriously their divine responsibility to care for the earth and each other in loving, sustainable ways.
When we hear people saying they can’t believe in a God who gets angry—yes, they can. How should God react to a child being forced into prostitution?
How we think about heaven, then, directly affects how we understand what we do with our days and energies now, in this age.
A proper view of heaven leads not to escape from the world, but to full engagement with it,
God always has an intention. Healing. Redemption. Love. Bringing people home and rejoicing over them with singing.
Grace and generosity aren’t fair;
God is love, And love is a relationship. This relationship is one of joy, and it can’t be contained.
