Sometimes we need to repeat the phrase Do It Today multiple times before we actually do it that day.
“You are not your job, you're not how much money you have in the bank.”
“What thing(s) should I eliminate to make my life so simple that it’s easy to focus?”
“All you need to do [to increase serotonin levels] is remember positive events that have happened in your life.
“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”
When you procrastinate, you might feel better on the short-term, but you will suffer in the long-term.
What you really need is a system for doing work. A lot of people shy away from routines, systems and frameworks because they want to have “freedom.” I’m sorry to disappoint you: Freedom is your enemy. The fact is that, if you want to get things done, you need rules.
we start time-wasting activities, and they become habits. And if you don’t become aware of the pointless behavior, it’s difficult to break those bad habits.
If you keep saying yes, you’re living someone else’s life.
Never complain. Another one is: Read and exercise every day. And: Close the day every evening by setting your next day’s priorities.
“At the end of each day, you should play back the tapes of your performance. The results should either applaud you or prod you.”
Most anxiety comes from unsolved problems. And often, we worry about problems that are not real.
Do you want to get stuff done? Do stuff that matters.
“You may delay, but time will not.” If you don’t listen to me, listen to him.
“Fools learn from experience. I prefer to learn from the experience of others.”
You put in many hours to read books, make sure you get something out of it.
Plan The Next Day Every night before I go to bed, I take 5 minutes to set my priorities (usually 3–4) for the next day.
too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing.
Take 10 minutes every evening and plan your next day.
“Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.”
Figure out what the basics are in your field. And repeat them.
“The single most important factor in our long-term happiness is the relationships we have with our family and close friends.”
“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours,”
when you make time for the people that matter to you, the relationships improve. And if they do not, the relationship was probably not meant to be. We simply have to move on. The real lesson here is that we always must focus on what we can control.
Life is not about what you know. It’s about what you don’t know.
