Jesus makes this staggering claim in John 15: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” I am the vine; you are the branch. Bearing fruit means that we will do wonderful things in our lives for God and his kingdom, but we don’t really have to try all that hard.
