Revenge doesn’t need to begin with a knife. It can begin with a well-delivered speech.

Who loves so deeply, and thinks so clearly, and combines his love and thoughts into principles around which he orders his life. Who sees past all the petty details to something greater and nobler even when it requires sacrifice.
I don’t need Power’s encouragement to be strong. I don’t need anyone’s encouragement to be strong. Strength isn’t the problem. It’s what you do with it.
If my parents taught me to have courage, Duck taught me to see. To see beauty and to love it, to let myself smile. And in this small way, I will never lose him. Even if, as I did my mother’s, I one day forget his face.
It feels brilliant and blinding and free, the clarity that comes with this realization. We’ll set our sights on the stars together. But they’re different stars, and we’ll stand back to back.
