We are all on our way to the same party even if it’s taking place in hundreds of different bars and living rooms. We are going out to celebrate ourselves and one another. To fall in love or to remind ourselves of all the people we’ve loved in the past.
All the lesbians I know are in some way smarter than me, or at least seem to know the world a little more. They also tend to read a lot of books.
And then she is kissing me, right here on the sidewalk on a foggy summer night. Violet is kissing me, and everything is perfect.
There will be old people who fought hard for what we all have now. There will be babies who will only know a country where everyone can marry. There will be signs reminding us of how far we still have to go.
