Now it can be told: That island to the east of Ireland is called Great Britain, or just plain Britain. Great Britain comprises Scotland (up at the top), Wales (down and to the left), and England (the chunk in the middle). Scottish and Welsh people will tolerate being referred to as British, but do not ever mistake them for Englishpeople. Never, if you know what’s good for you, refer to an Irishperson as British.
