Without clear structure and guidance, people working under the laissez-faire manager will waste more and more time on idle chitchat, low-value, no-value activities, and personal or private business. Unless someone steps in to develop clear job descriptions, define key results areas, establish standards of performance, and build an effective team, the company or department can gradually deteriorate and perform at a low level overall.
