By an odd coincidence, I was born on my birthday.

Earlier that day, when my mother dumped me there, she simply left and disappeared. She didn’t say goodbye, she just took off. Later on, she said, “Well, I didn’t want to cause a fuss. You were happily playing so I thought I’d just slip away and avoid a scene.” Very Northern mother, that. Above all else, avoid a scene.

“What’s a Bicentennial?” asked Ronnie Wood. “It means America is two hundred years old,” said an American proudly. “Oh, the same age as my house,” said Ronnie.

Comedy’s business is some kind of search for truth.

I think he would prefer to be inducted posthumorously because he loved comedians, poor sick, sad, deranged lovable puppies that we are, because they, like him, had the ability to say the wrong thing at the right time, which is what we call humor.
