I also felt uncomfortable with how this church understood the Bible. For them, it seemed useful only to justify their chosen social causes. Jesus was a political zealot, a radical figure who challenged the heresy of private, cheap-grace faith. The cross was a symbol of solidarity with the poor, suffering, and rejected minority groups.
