the News Feed built on ideas that were already out there. Every user’s profile page would function as a glorified RSS feed, and the News Feed would collect all the updates, photos and status changes that your friends made in one central place—just like a feed reader collected blog posts. You wouldn’t have to visit profile page after profile page individually, you could just log in and Facebook would tell you what was new. It would all spool out in one, long, reverse-chronological stream, just like a blog.
