It hits me. I’ve been accused and they’re here to arrest me.

My brother left through this passage, and now it’s my escape too.

She should be the one comforting me, yet she’s the one who sent me here. What kind of mother does that to her own child?

“Don’t watch,” Cole says.

Awe. He cares

My hand goes to my face, and I realize I’m crying. This time, it wasn’t just a dream. It was just one of my many painful memories.

“Lexi,” he says with a cruel tone as he shoves me into the wall. “I remember telling you to never mention any of this… to anyone!” With a shaky voice I say, “But, I didn’t.” He picks me up holding me to his face. My legs dangle, unable to touch the floor. “Don’t lie to me!” His spit hits my face, and I can taste stale cigarettes. “I’m not. I swear. I said nothing!” I’m squeezing my eyes shut and my chin won’t stop trembling.

What hppened

“Oh, that would be great because we have to leave soon.”

I'm crying

He wonders what really happened to me before I ended up here.
