Unfortunately, in many countries, the law doesn’t do much to protect you. Data brokers are largely unregulated and – particularly in America – opportunities to curb their power have repeatedly been passed over by government. In March 2017, for instance, the US Senate voted to eliminate rules that would have prevented data brokers from selling your internet browser history without your explicit consent.
