Who are you when stripped of money, clothes, degrees, and stuff? We don't need things to make us who we are.
As a general rule, don't invest in depreciable infrastructure until there is no alternative. As long as you have an alternative, whether it's working later, working harder, renting, or borrowing, don't put your precious cash into infrastructure. If it is something that inherently generates income, that's fine.
Livestock management guru Bud Williams used to say, "If you have to go on vacation to get away, don't come back." His point was that you should find the deepest satisfaction in what you're doing. If you don't find that, then change what you're doing. And if what you're doing provides your deepest satisfaction, why do you have to get away from it?
