Genetically, though, we are more homogenous than our closest living relatives, the chimps, gorillas, and orangutans. We just haven’t been around long enough to diversify much. Besides, we are extraordinarily sociable, and we love to travel, so human genes have moved pretty freely from group to group. We belong to the mammalian order Primates, which includes lemurs, monkeys, and great apes. And we share a lot with our primate relatives.
