There were 371 notches to be exact, the number of days they lived on the ark. There was a star carved above the forty-first line, the day the rain stopped pouring from the heavens and the sun revealed itself, then the stars and moon later. Another star marked the day they saw land, another by the day the ark was stopped in place by the jagged peaks of earth that had been dislodged and strewn in massive rocky pyramids.
