Poems are structured, but that is not what we first notice about them, and in the end, it is not what makes us like them. Similarly, churches are structured, but that is not what we first notice about them, or what ultimately makes us want to stay. Like good poetry, the connection to a church’s culture is more emotional. A poem is only effective to the degree to which it moves the reader.
