It is at the foot of the Cross that we learn the depth of God’s love: “God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son....” The cross in our cell can show us what sin can do to God and what we can do for sinners. We are not viewers of the Crucifixion; we are participators. Sin matters so much; how can anyone be indifferent to it once he has knelt at the foot of the Cross?
