Going from Hanoi to Saigon to Hiroshima on a single trip was something that I couldn’t entirely get my mind around, as was the fact that in these places, we’d been greeted by some of the largest crowds of Obama’s presidency. The whole scene put the unpleasantness of the last few weeks into some perspective, but it also fed a sense of anger at the story I was caught up in back in Washington.
