Initially, you must reward your employees’ ownership of a task—not the outcome—because the goal is to shift the responsibility for decision making from you to them. If they are punished for wrong decisions, you will only be training them to come back to you for decisions. You, too, have made wrong decisions in the past; that’s how you grew. They will make wrong decisions, and that is how they will grow.
