A chance to focus on just one thing, to do something hard, to get away from a warm bed and pancake Sundays and a life that I loved but that had ceased to be enough for me. I think we all assume that we’ll chafe against conformity and settling in our lives, but settling isn’t dangerous because it’s unpleasant. The real danger was that I was beginning to like it.
