Soon I found that I enjoyed helping others find their voices and I was able to help them be better together. I also discovered that I could make my choirs sound good by quickly diagnosing and fixing problems. And I was the leader so I could control the environment—literally. I make sure the temperature is controlled and that seating and lighting are appropriate. I see to it that the music is prepared, that the schedule is set and everyone knows what it is, and that the chosen repertoire is appropriate.
