Some people are only meant to be together for a short time and a specific purpose.”
There are a lot of really terrible things about losing a friend, but one of the worst is how they take pieces of you with them.
“Anyway, I like rough edges and imperfections. It’s what makes a person interesting. It’s what makes a guy walk into a bar on a random night, see a girl with a book and ugly glasses and think, Now there’s a girl I could fall I love with.”
Maybe that’s what it means to be broken. There will forever be two sides of one’s self with a fault line down the middle. Put two broken people together, and there will come a time when you have a chasm to cross.
“I’m saying that letting you go might be the biggest mistake I’ll ever make. But not letting you go might be an even bigger one.”

“I think he does too. But only as much as he’s able to while he fights his demons and tries to find his footing again. That may not be enough for you. It shouldn’t be enough for you.”
“The ocean changes every day. Tomorrow morning you can walk out here and the surf will look totally different. Sometimes the waves are soft and rolling, other times they’re fierce and unforgiving. The winds and the tides are forever reforming and reshaping the landscape. We hear that saying all the time, ‘Every day is a new day.’ But with the ocean, you can see it. It has a way of making you believe the slate really has been wiped clean.”

“Get up. Make your bed. And make up your mind about what kind of day it’s going to be.”
People come together for different reasons at different times. It doesn’t mean you’re destined to stay together forever. But if you’re lucky, you’ll leave each other in a better place.
