He shifted against Zercy’s thigh and cleared his throat. “No. It’s Alec.” He enunciated clearly. “Al-eck.” “Tah.” Zercy nodded. His gaze dropped to his mouth. “That is what I said… Al-lllick…”
“Well, what do you know.” Snickering, he turned on his stool. “Ha. You hear that, Mannix? You giant walking boner. No nooky-nooky for you.”
Zercy stiffened, brows furrowing. He suddenly looked offended. “No, I cannot. I cannot figure it out. You asked me to touch you, so touch you I did. As a result, you spilled like a sensuous young god. Now you are eased, and I am quenched. I do not understand how that is bad.”
“Because,” Alec scrambled to explain. Kríe were so dense. “That kind of thing’s intimate.” “Intimate.” “Yeah.” “As in, reserved for someone to whom you are attracted.” “Yes. Exactly. Not just any—” Alec froze. Son of a bitch. Zercy grinned, fangs flashing. “That is right. You are attracted to me, Alick. So, we kiss.” His lips engulfed Alec’s.
“You soothe me,” the king murmured, sounding reflective. Somber. “The light in my black night. You are mine.” He pulled Alec closer. Pressed his nose against his ear. “My Alick,” he mumbled. He was falling asleep. “I hope those humans you wait for never come.”
Something dimmed in Zercy’s eyes. “I would like to be your home. If you left me, I would miss you more than they.”
Alec’s chest tightened. He turned his head and gazed at the king. Studied every nuance of his face. His heart sank in realization. When he finally left this planet, he wouldn’t be going home. He’d be leaving it.
Mannix squared his shoulders and glared at him from the other team’s end zone. “You said to catch the ball and run very, very fast!” “Right!” Chet hollered, pointing to the opposite end of the field. “That way, you brainless dildo! Now we’re losing!”
Airis folded his arms and regarded him. A moment ticked by. Finally, he tipped his head. “We will escort you.” Garret’s brows shot up. “Seriously?” “Leí… Because I find you pleasing to look at.”
“My name’s Garret.” “Leí. You told me.” “So why do you keep calling me oddling?” Airis smiled, his eyes merry, and leaned in conspiratorially. “Because you are an oddling, Garret. It is why I like you.”
Airis smiled. “You feel good now. Fed and rested.” The tall flawless male looked pleased with himself.
He peered at Garret’s ring again. “Let us trade.” Garret cocked a brow. “Trade?” “Leí. Your college ring for…” Airis glanced down at his person. His gaze slid to his belt. “…my knife. Our finest bladesmiths fashioned it. But I like your ring very much, so in exchange, I will give you my favorite knife.”
Hell, if Airis wasn’t male, he’d almost think the guy was flirting. Garret paused in thought, considering their tracker. Paris was male—but also bi. Maybe some Tohrí were bisexual, too? Figuring he’d never know, he brushed it off and just kept on walking.
