In our home, he’s my Jake, and I’m his Kayla. We hug, hold hands, talk, and laugh.
To have to be around the person you love, and not be able to love them, is the hardest thing to do.
I want to shut out the world around us and have us just be the way we are behind closed doors, where no one else can dictate who we are and what we feel. I just want her—my Kayla.
“Jake, Logan’s mind works like a five-year-old’s. He wouldn’t take no for an answer, but I doubt he’d even remember if I were there or not.”
Jake later surprises everyone by getting on the karaoke stage. He stands there with a mic in hand, a blush creeping to his cheeks. Looking down, he clears his throat then speaks into the mic.
The worst thing is that you’ll never know the feeling of falling—falling in love with someone.
You would know what it feels like to stand in front of your forever. Love, Kayla
I wish the world would leave me alone for just one minute, so I can gather the strength to get up and face it.
“I need to be more than this.” He points his finger at himself then me. “You need to pick. It’s all or nothing.”
