Some of my apathy came from not having gotten into the journalism program. When I was accepted to Syracuse University, I applied to the famous Newhouse School of Communications, but was turned down. And so I entered the Maxwell School of Political Science instead. I had set my sights on the news business after my sophomore year in high school, when they gave us a written aptitude test.
