For the woman turning twenty-four a few tables over from me at the restaurant: I hope this is day one of a beautiful year of chasing light, and abandoning fears, a brand new chapter that started right here. I hope you can look back on this day, and remember even though life was not perfect back then you were smiling, laughing, present with friends, and these are the moments you will hold to the end.
