The servant symbolizes us while the master represents our minds. Like the servant, most of us live out our lives according to the orders that are given by our minds. Our lives are often filled with thoughts of what we did wrong, what we should fear, who we should be angry with, or why we are not good enough.
No thought has its own power. It is us who give thoughts their power by making them important to us. In fact, there is no experience that you will ever have that has an inherent meaning to it. Just as we give power to our thoughts, we give meaning to our experiences. This is why Buddhism states that all suffering arises from the mind. Buddhism can teach us how to change our relationship with our minds. Instead of us being the servant of the mind, we can become the master.
Try to find the one that is doing the observing.
we are not the functions of the mind and body; instead, we are the one that observes these functions happening.
Our essential nature is consciousness, and consciousness is aware of experience but is not affected by it.
We are unable to experience our deeper selves because thought is stealing our attention from it.
Karma has three components: desire, action, and memory. These three components create the karmic cycle.
We change our karma every time we react differently to our experiences in life.
Karma is not about what happens to us; it is about how we react to life. When we learn to be consciously aware of how we react to life, we can choose how we want to respond. By making a conscious decision as to how we respond in any given situation, we have taken an important step to becoming the master of our minds.
The concept of “mine and yours” is born from a sense of scarcity and is a function of the ego.
From the non-dual perspective, there is no one truth for how things should be, for truth is subjective and is based on perspective.
Having a non-dual perspective leads to a life of less judgment and greater tolerance, inclusion, acceptance, and sense of connection with all that we experience. Our relationships are enhanced because we do not focus on the differences between us.
It is from this formlessness, which contains energy and information, from which everything we know manifests. Ku is just like this.
Where do thoughts go when they disappear from awareness? Can you observe this?
It is only when we establish our sense self in that which does not change that we can enjoy true peace and happiness. When we reach this state, it is referred to as enlightenment. Enlightenment is the mastering of the mind.
the pursuit of happiness is an illusion. Happiness is an emotional state that comes and goes like all other emotions.
