Tactical and technological advantages increase the effectiveness of the combat strategies available to the soldier. Or, as one soldier put it, “You want to make damn sure you don’t get your own ass shot off while you are hosing the enemy.” This is what has always been achieved by gaining a tactical advantage through ambushes, flank attacks, and rear attacks.
