Bookish people, I’m sorry to say, have an unfortunate tendency toward elitism. I know this because I am a bookish person, and also because I hang out with other bookish sorts. In the name of helping our children love what is good, true, and beautiful—and in our zealous desire to put quality books into the hands of our children—we have the very unfortunate habit of disparaging books we’ve decided don’t pass muster.
