Jamie Martin, author of the fabulous book Give Your Child the World, pegged read-alouds to dinnertime. While she finished dinner prep, her husband read to the kids at the dinner table to help them wind down from the day’s activities and get in a calmer mood. Then Jamie set out the dinner plates, and everyone ate and chatted about their days.
