We often try to help kids see the distinction between things they feel like doing and things they want to do. To illustrate this, Bill will ask them to think about new parents. He tells kids that when his daughter was a baby and it was his responsibility when she cried in the middle of the night to bring her to her mother to be fed, he never once felt like getting out of bed. But he wanted to do it because it was important that his daughter not suffer (and that he and his wife eventually get back to sleep).
