I believe that praying and speaking the name of Jesus, as I had done before this revelation, was ineffective against my demonic assailants because I was speaking out of ritual rather than authority. I only said, “Leave me alone in the name of Jesus,” and I sang, “God has not given me a spirit of fear,” because it was what my Sunday school teachers and parents told me to do.
