The most important opinion about you is your own. Think highly of yourself and your work, and then convince others why they should agree.
Quotas create immediate division, invite the possibility of double standards in hiring, and create the worry that employees might be hired for reasons unrelated to their ability to do the job better than anyone else. Even the perception that that might be the case can be highly destructive to your team’s performance and morale. Policies and practices that protect all of us from bias are the single-best means for us to all power UP together.
The most effective diversity programs are profoundly simple, action oriented, and stigmatizing to no one.
