While the Power Kingdom is allies with the Light Realm, they wouldn’t enter a war on their behalf. And that’s because it’s an alliance of commerce, not military. If, however, they had justification to join the Light Realm’s efforts against us, we’d be screwed. “And what’s more justifiable than the grandson of their general being murdered by me? That’d provide them with just cause. All it would take would be Intel King Vitio to send a recording to Power Queen Gantski of Bruut’s body, his eyelids pulled back, exposing the signature characteristic of someone who’s died by my hands—a milky white

Storshae stared at Toono for several seconds before speaking. “You’re a dangerous man, Toono. You observe scenarios and process information in a way I’ve never witnessed before.” “Situational cognizance,” Toono said. “I’ve only heard stories of minds such as yours …” Storshae trailed off, then said: “Those stories being of my father.”
Tashami took a knee next to him and looked him in the face. “Remember a year ago, when we entered the Void?” Agnos looked into his gray eyes. Tashami continued: “Do you know who steered that mission? You did. Not Yama, not Lilu, nor Director Neaneuma or Buredo. While you seemed to suffer from the Void’s atmosphere more than any of us, you still managed to keep focus and lead us where we needed to go. You proved to be the strongest of the group.” He paused and said with even more conviction, “You found me my father.”
“I am a retired captain, after all. In fact, the person who wields that ancient is a fellow captain.” She paused and seemed to give it some thought. “More than that. She’s developed some sort of reputation over the decades. She captains the biggest ship with the largest crew, and her defenses are impenetrable. They call her Gray Whale.”
“Provod,” a few students said. “Found from where?” “The provod mines in the Power Kingdom’s Malanese Peaks.” “What is the unique trait that separates it from all other natural material such as limestone, granite, basalt, and marble?” “It deflects energy instead of absorbing it—no matter the clout or concentration used when weaving. It can withstand unimaginable pressure.”
The latch closed and the door swung open. Rhyparia grimaced as the stranger’s face became visible. She should have been comforted by the fact that he wasn’t another dimiour, but a human. Instead she was taken aback by the dozens of scars on his face that crisscrossed every which way, making his skin look like a patchwork quilt.
The DC King returned for an eighth visit, this time burning and killing animals on his way to Dimiourgos. And he had a different tactic entering this fight: he’d cut off the lynx’s head, figuring a decapitated body couldn’t possibly be resurrected. And the world believed it to have been successful. Nobody heard from Dimiourgos again,
Only a few escaped the DC King’s wrath by traversing through a hole in the ground that Dimiourgos had created throughout his first seven lives. He’d carved into the crust for thousands of miles until he reached light on the other side. But that still posed problems. If the dimiours were to jump in, they’d only plummet to a midpoint between the two realms, forever stuck floating in a void between two opposing gravitational forces until they died. He therefore shifted the gravity inside the hole so that travelers could walk on its sides. He’d grown trees and vegetation throughout the passage, so

Feissam nodded. “I will say this first, milady: when I left Phesaw, Vuilni went to fight with the Jestivan while Bruut went to fight with the Dev Diatia and Storshae’s men. Storshae is allies with Toono, so I doubt it was he who killed Bruut. With that said, I can only think of the Jestivan, and there are two specifically who despised everything about him, threatening his life on more than one occasion.” “Their names?” “Bryson LeAnce and Yama.”
Agnos motioned for Tashami to follow him toward a pile of barrels, where they proceeded to wiggle into a crevice. “A nifty nook for reading,” Agnos said as he grabbed a lantern wedged within the cargo. “I come here to pass the time. If the ceiling door opens, I bolt out and pretend to clean.”
Lilu’s eyebrows raised a notch as the room expanded to twice its original size. Wendel continued: “It’s a treasure trove of hypotheses, theories, experiments, and data …” He paused and sighed, “Mendac LeAnce’s personal lab.”
Mendac makes me want to read through what he wrote all day and run away as quickly as possible.(old)
Yeah. He was a genius with amazing inventions but also worse than Toono.(new)
Terror consumed Tashami as he realized the ship had already begun climbing a wave that was still forming. The water rose in front of them, and the Whale Lord was headed for its lip. He needed to accelerate the vessel in order to break the wave’s crest before the path became too vertical and flipped the ship backward. So he thrust both palms forward, weaving a barrage of wind into the three foresails. The ship gained speed in response. Slowly it neared the crest. He continued his efforts, knowing that if he failed, the voyage—and all lives—would meet a catastrophic end. There was no time to

She chuckled and leaned back in her chair. “None of your concern, Anus.” Tashami’s cheeks turned red as he placed his hand over his open mouth. Agnos’s eyes dulled. “It’s Agnos, Captain.” “My apologies, Anus,” Gray said over Tashami’s muffled laughter. “So I hear you’re an expert on the sea.”
Bryson and Shelly had already committed the deed a few times during the past several months, but this was different. From the pace at which she moved, the delicacy of her actions, and the look on her face, there was more depth involved than simple lust. The chill subsided, consumed by a fiery passion. As Bryson placed his hand against Shelly’s cheek, he felt only love.
“They should be fine, milord,” a woman said. Her scalp was shaved bald and was much smoother than her wrinkled face. “Wisely, they’ve stockpiled enough provod to last three years if they continue their current manufacture rates.” “And what if, let’s say—” Vitio placed his elbow on the table and waved his hand with a thoughtful frown— “we ask them to increase their speed? After all, we are in a war; we do need to start seeing these technological breakthroughs they’ve been speaking of.”
Toth Brench swept through the dungeons with a lantern in hand. He had traveled down here too often to become lost. As he approached the final cell and saw whom it occupied, he broke into a sprint. He knelt down, placing the lantern on the floor, and examined Wert. His breathing was shallow, his eyes closed. Toth slapped the golden scruff on his cheeks. “Get up, Wert.” The man grumbled, and his eyes peeled open. His gaze flickered to Toth, unable to tilt his head. “She’s gone. Others interfered.” “I figured.” Toth glanced at Wert’s nub of a wrist. “Who wrapped you up?” “I’m not sure,” Wert said

“The woman doesn’t have her ancient, so she’s useless. Toth found it still in his office.” “You’re smarter than that,” Toono said—although it was a lie. “She doesn’t need to see through a bird’s eyes to be a threat. A spy doesn’t become a spy because of their ancient. It’s their mind. They’re cunning. You should know about this since you’re Devish—a race of people prided on their deception.”
Toono’s shoulder slid through the gravel. As he came to a stop, he gazed back to see Yama fighting a … what is that? He sat up and squinted, not believing his eyes. He’d never seen a more peculiar creature, an entity that made Gale Thrasher seem commonplace. A red-furred fox on its hind legs, like a human, had Yama on the defensive, forcing her to retreat as she tried to shed off a barrage of swords.
