All battles are first won or lost, in the mind. —Joan of Arc
That is what faith is. Knowing that though I do not have all the answers, God does, and he stands only for good.”
Is this the true definition of bravery: being afraid but acting anyway? Following the dictates of your faith and your heart straight into the battle for which you’ve been called? It seems to me to be so. For how is there bravery if there is no fear?
We had one chance, one life, and then it was gone. Live fiercely and without regret.
What would happen if I simply let my body and heart lead the way, without overthinking, without letting fear guide me? Not because I wasn’t scared of the consequences, but because life was short and moments were small windows of opportunity that might never, ever come again.
“Madame Leclaire said sometimes the beginning of love is just a simple matter of proximity.”
Yes, we were headed to the City of Light, and all I felt inside was darkness.
Sometimes the beginning of love is just a simple matter of proximity.
I left him there to fight his battle…or not. Because I understood now. Some battles could only be fought alone.
I knew from experience that people didn’t change because they were begged to do so. People changed only when they made the choice to change on their own.
I’d taken a chance on love and I’d lost. Despite how it had ended, I wouldn’t regret the time we’d spent together. That, too, had been a gift, and I would try to ensure the loss changed me for the better.
No matter the outcome, I had faith that our time spent together was for a purpose, even if I wouldn’t know that purpose for a long time to come.
Live fiercely and without regret, I promise to remind myself when I am afraid or uncertain,
But I also knew now that life was more than words. It was laughter and love, faith and joy. And mostly, it was the deep peace that came from living life fiercely and without regret.
