As you know, it's a reference to the book on the Kabbalah that the Consul is writing, but I found it amusing as an intentional comment by Lowry on the book we're reading.
I was aware that an interpretation of UTV is as a parallel to the Kabbalah but somehow missed or didn't remember the Consul was writing a book on it. Interesting.
