We do providence an injustice when, frustrated at our inability to comprehend it, we ascribe to it our own responses. But there again, if it is beyond comprehension, then, I repeat, it is difficult to feel any responsibility for that which is not given man to understand. And if that is so, how can I be judged for my inability to comprehend the will and the laws of providence? No, let’s just leave religion out of it.
