God is hidden in the world, where He reigns over all things. But at the same time, as Luther says in “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God,” Satan is “this world’s prince” (LSB 656:3). Thus, the world is a battleground between Satan and God, a realm of continual conflict, which is the context for Christians living out their faith in the world. This is not a conflict between the two kingdoms; rather, it is a conflict within the kingdoms.
