Jesus is “the Holy One of God,” because earlier in the same chapter, when Jesus is baptized, the Holy Spirit descends on Jesus like a dove (Mark 1:10). In our story, the unclean, or “unholy,” spirit immediately recognizes Jesus, who is now filled with the Holy Spirit and who has become the Holy One of God.
