David has 66 chapters of the Bible written about him in the Old Testament. And there are an addition 59 references to David in the New Testament. That dwarfs any of the other Bible characters. By comparison, Abraham has only 14 chapters devoted to him. Joseph also has 14 chapters, Jacob has 11, and Elijah has 10.
character is so much more important than competence. You can always teach someone to grow
competence and skill, but character comes from the state of your soul.
God cares very much about your character, and very little about your level of competence. It seems that God actually goes out of His way to choose unlikely people. He chooses those who are very low in competence to bless and promote to prominence. Why? They are people of high character.
Lord, there is only one thing that I want. This is the one thing that I desire. This is the one thing that I am pursuing and seeking. I’m not asking for justice, deliverance or even your blessing. The only thing that I want is to be able to be close to you all the days of my life. I want to be able to see you face to face. I want to be able to go into your presence at any hour. I want to be able to have the access to run up to you and ask you any question that is on my heart. Lord, the only thing I desire is you.
The goal of meditating on the Scriptures is to draw closer in your relationship with God.
the more time you spend meditating on God’s Word, the better you will know God.
