Printed only months after the end of the First World War, it was a brave attempt by Germany’s leading hotels (among them the Hotel Bristol in Berlin and the Englischer Hof in Frankfurt) to stimulate tourism. Naturally its few pages give no hint of the horror that had so recently consumed Europe and for which Germany was widely held responsible.
