Twelve hundred of the toughest roughnecks I have ever seen in my life passed in review before Hitler at the goosestep under the old Reichflag, wearing red armbands with Hakenkreuze … Hitler shouted ‘Death to the Jews’ etc. and etc. There was frantic cheering. I never saw such a sight in my life.
