The challenge before this small but committed group of Indian citizens was how to turn public opinion—to make people aware of the dangers of convicting people merely on the basis of police suspicion, without a fair trial—and how to create a climate where the life and liberty of a fellow citizen could not be sacrificed at the altar of national chauvinism. This appeared an impossible task even when some of the country’s most prominent citizens formed themselves into the All India Defence Committee for S.A.R. Geelani.
The question arises on the Judical system that was the police investigation was fair enough to convict the accussed.
