The flipside of that was the misconception that I was BOR – Bank of Ramsey. All of a sudden, my father’s side of the family wanted to pop up with their sudden pride and regret that they hadn’t done a goddamn thing to assist my mother in the conspicuous absence of my father. I shut that down.

“No,” I interrupted, looking at him over my shoulder. “Ramsey, nobody except Darius has touched me, in eight years. So… yes, I’m nervous. ” I dropped my gaze, turning to face the wall again before I pressed my forehead against the firm surface. “I don’t even remember what another man’s touch feels like.” “Like this,” he said, making me whimper as his lips connected with my shoulder. He moved one of his hands from the wall, dropping it to wrap around my waist as he pushed his body against mine. “And this.” His lips brushed my neck, soft at first, then more firm, joined shortly after by his tongue.

She finished that question with her lips right against mine. Her eyes were full of mischief as she watched me through lowered lids, waiting for me to respond. But she knew my response – my answer was hard enough to shatter glass, and right there in her hands.

In fact, what felt strange was thinking about us ever having a different dynamic than this. Being “just friends” felt completely foreign, and her almost marrying somebody else? That was a distant bad dream.

I shook my head. “Thank you for that, but I can’t take credit. Wil has been a great friend, supportive, a good listener, a motivator, a muse… all of that. Without her being who she is, I don’t know that I’d be able to be that person for her, so… that’s all her.”

“When it’s time, you will. Saying the words is about the least potent expression of it anyway. Of course we want to hear it too, but always remember – let his actions speak louder than his words. A man can say anything, but his actions tell the real story.” Yeah.
