Immigrants come to US for the opportunities. Jurgis found the hope etc he was looking for only in the *limbo* of Socialist Utopia. A socialist utopia that is govern, somewhat, by the org around the world. And there is no way the soociialist group in his former country would survive the impending revolution like it might be allowed to breathe in the US. the best part of soociiallism is the hope tht one day it could be implemented. But it won't be and if it were, it would fail to be socialist because someone would have to be in charge of it.
