Ok, last highlight of the author's affliction. Just too many to continue.

Uhm, to whom and via what mode? Radio silence was in effect, and limited line-of-sight lasercom only. A little specificity, after the author's previous detailed explanations, seems called for. It's a loss of story, narrative continuity.

Author gets too caught up in his narrative excitement, and devolves to comic book level sound effects in sensory descriptions.
Lower ranked crew stayed out of suits, with only face breathers that would not save them in a full decompression, and hoped the active damage tech would hold.
Must make recruiting, retention, and overall morale much more difficult for lower rank listings. Kinda like announcing: "women, children AND officers into the lifeboats," as a ship sinks.
