“Poppy needs to blow off some steam,” Cali whispered. “Poppy needs a man who isn’t an asshole,” I returned under my breath. “Poppy can hear you,” Poppy snipped.
“Their inner light drew us in. They’re like a beacon shinin’ the way in the darkest of nights. Once you’ve seen it, there’s no fuckin’ way to change course.”
Red jerked her head at Bo, then looked at me with a slow, heated smile, and winked. “If you get tired of flyin’ straight, you know where to find me.” I blinked, and my eyes grew wide. “Right. Good to know. Thank you for the, ah, dance.” I could feel Bo’s chest shaking, so I looked up. I expected him to be angry, but his eyes were glittering with laughter. “What?” “Only a Wallflower would have both sides chasin’ after her.”
They say time heals what reason cannot, but I think the Bible said it best. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Or, simply put, love conquers all.
“Be safe,” Bernice said as they turned to leave. I grinned. “Bo told you to keep remindin’ me of that, didn’t he?” “If a man’s any man at all, his first priority is always the safety of the ones he loves,” Eunice threw out.
“Poppy? Are you claustrophobic?” I asked. “No. I’m deathrophobic.”
