Before we pray for reconciliation, prayers of lament, anger, and genuine confession must be fully heard. Yet remaining in alienation means death. Most of us have experienced this. Failing to reconcile can mean the death of community, as it does for Mookie’s neighborhood, or the death of personal relationship, as it does for Mookie and Sal.
