I think we all assume that we’ll chafe against conformity and settling in our lives, but settling isn’t dangerous because it’s unpleasant. The real danger was that I was beginning to like it.

though man’s soul finds solace in natural beauty, it is forged in the fire of pain?

And in the case of pain, perhaps the one we know hurts us less than the one we fear.
