I felt myself rising vertically and then moving horizontally along somewhere. I could not open my eyes. I then said to myself, ‘I’m going with them. I want to go with them but I want to come back.’ I stopped and hovered weightlessly. I felt love coursing through my body and I asked, ‘Is that you, mummy?’ [Note: I thought that I was dead and was being touched by my deceased mother.]
“The Melchizedek incident that I experienced on February 21, 1976, suggested to me that the world might be organized more like a random database than like a sequential library.
“If there is no time dimension as we usually assume there is, we may be traversing events by association. Modern computers retrieve information associatively. You ‘evoke’ the desired records by using keywords, words of power. You request the intersection of ‘microwave’ and ‘headache’ and you find 20 articles you never suspected existed. Perhaps I had unconsciously posted such a request on some psychic bulletin board with the keyword ‘Melchizedek.’ If we live in the associative universe of the software scientist rather than the sequential universe of the space-time physicist, then miracles are

Fowler summed it up by saying, “Synchronistic happenings in my life leave a strong impression that I am part of a greater ONE unknown reality that controls all things. To me, these uncanny happenings are an intrusion from a mega-reality into my particular reality via some kind of para-physical osmosis.

A very weird thing began to happen in the early-to-mid 1970s – a number of people were apparently ”channeling” very similar information, from entities variously claiming to be aliens, God, and beyond.
These people, from different backgrounds and fields, would end up basically forming an interconnecting web of High Weirdness that would imp...

find a woman wearing a golden fish-pendant; the light reflected off the pendant in a particular way, bouncing into his brain and providing him with a dense amount of information.
In the months that followed, he would demonstrate powers of xenoglossia – suddenly speaking in Ancient Greek – as well as an instance of proven clairvoyance.
Roughly a year before, on July 23, 1973, Robert Anton Wilson – coauthor of the satire/sci-fi Illuminatus! Trilogy and the Cosmic Trigger books – claims to have channeled information from an intelligence in the Sirius star system. Exactly three years later to the day, Wilson opened himself up again to these entities to garner, as he put it, “another blast of Cosmic Wisdom” from “the Transmitters.”
“Philip K. Dick and I had a series of rather similar experiences. From his experiences, he constructed VALIS, which looks like a science fiction story most of the way…abruptly towards the end you figure out, maybe it isn’t a science fiction story, maybe it’s an account of Philip K. Dick going crazy. Or maybe it’s an account of Philip K. Dick being contacted by extraterrestrials.
Timothy Leary – the highly influential psychologist who popularized LSD use in the 1960s – ALSO began receiving telepathic messages which were supposedly from extraterrestrials. The resulting Starseed Transmission was part conspiracy-ramble, part social-commentary, and part ecstatic proclamation of “The Good News” (replace Jesus with “Higher Intelligence”):
And guess when and how the founders of Heaven’s Gate, Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles, received this information? During the early 1970s, via channeled/telepathic communications from entities they identified as being ultimately extraterrestrial in origin.
And why would these “aliens” do such a thing, and why to these particular people? Why were these entities – if there were truly such beings at all – contacting Dick, Leary, Wilson, Applewhite, William Burroughs (who, to be honest, always seemed to be contacted by something), Ramtha (J.Z. Knight, first contact 1977), Chelsea Quinn Yarbro (the “Michael” channels, which started in 1973), author and ethnobotanist Terrence McKenna (starting in 1971) and more?
Well…they were all either writers or guru-types who ended up having an impact on popular thought and culture.
there was a whole raft of books and such from the 1960s that would have had an impact on these individuals. You had the highly-influential channeled Seth material from the mid-Sixties. You had a lot of people taking a lot of LSD and reporting what they found there. Heavy influence from Eastern religions and philosophy, books on a range of esoteric topics like Morning of the Magicians (1960), the “Ancient Astronauts” classic Chariots of the Gods? (1968), and a metric shit-ton of UFO narratives.
So it’s possible that it was all just a case of popular-culture infecting highly-suggestible people with crazy notions and flights of fancy. But that doesn’t quite explain how Philip K. Dick, shortly after his 1974 experience, was able to psychically – and incredibly accurately – diagnose a rare birth defect in his young son’s body that was going to, barring immediate surgery, kill the child.
As mentioned before, that giant rabbit is the púca—or, “pooka.” A shape-changing creature from Irish folklore, the pooka commonly took the form of a horse, goat, or rabbit, sometimes with a partially-human body.
the pooka would best be illustrated by a different large rabbit, this time the fearsome Frank of the 2001 movie Donnie Darko.
suggest two things. Go on over to Amazon and pick up a copy of Kahuna Power – Expanded Edition, or, if you don’t have the necessary quail to buy the book, Google “Fire Starter,” Season One, Episode 3, of Mysteries At The National Parks. Originally broadcast on the Travel Chanel I found it on YouTube right away. No charge!
Greek Mythology suggests that we exist to honor the Gods of Mount Olympus and to provide them with entertainment. Our daily lives are loosely staged productions that they can observe, influence or participate in. At will or at whim they can descend into our world to directly experience its many pleasures and perils. They can easily assume human, animal or combined forms. They can even manifest as natural and supernatural phenomena.
Not only that, but they can also appear as or act through us. Zeus and Hermes enjoy occasionally posing as road-weary travelers requesting food and shelter.
Michigan researcher and author Dennis Morrison has delved into the Chippewa tradition of the Mock-wa-mosa, known also as the Bearwalker. However, its practitioners reportedly use their powers for evil, and tradition states they must kill at least one person a year or else this dark power turns on them. Allegedly these practitioners have the ability to shape-shift, are able to appear as a bear, an owl or simply as a mysterious ball of light, often producing temporary states of unconsciousness in their victims.
We are enjoined repeatedly in the New Testament to be vigilant, that for the Christian it is always day, there is always light, by which he can see this event when it comes. See this event. Does that imply that many persons who are somehow asleep or blind or not vigilant – that they will not see it, even though it occurs? Consider the significance that can be assigned to these notions. The Kingdom will come here, unexpectedly (this is always stressed); the rightful faithful shall see it, because for them it is always daytime, but for the others ... what seems expressed here is the paradoxical

In the previous alternate present, in Track A, Christianity was illegal, as it had been two thousand years ago at its inception. It was regarded as subversive and revolutionary – and, let me add, this appraisal by the police authorities was correct. It took me almost two weeks, after the return of my memories of my life in Track A, to rid myself of the overpowering impression that all references to Christ, all sacerdotal acts, had to be veiled in absolute secrecy. But historically this fits the pattern of a fascist takeover, especially those along Nazi lines. They did so regard Christianity.
The three great tyrannical states in history that have murdered their domestic Christian populations – Rome, the Third Reich, and the USSR – are, from an objective standpoint, three manifestations of a single matrix.
The idea that seized me twenty-seven years ago and never let go is this: Any society in which people meddle in other people's business is not a good society, and a state in which the government “knows more about you than you know about yourself,” as it is expressed in Flow My Tears, is a state that must be overthrown. It may be a theocracy, a fascist corporate state, or reactionary monopolistic capitalism or centralistic socialism – that aspect does not matter.
This gracious gift serves to delineate for us – for me at least – some aspects of the Programmer. It causes me to comprehend him after a fashion. I think we cannot know what he is, but we can experience this functioning and so can ask, “What does he resemble?” Not “What is he?” but rather “What is he like?”
First and foremost, he controls the objects, processes, and events in our space-time world. This is, for us, the primary aspect, although intrinsically he may possess aspects of vaster magnitude but of less applicability to us.
During a short period of time in March 1974, at the moment in which I was resynthesized, I was aware perceptually – which is to say aware in an external way – of his presence. At that time I had no idea what I was seeing?
It resembled plasmic energy. It had colors. It moved fast, collecting and dispersing. But what it was, what he was – I am not sure even now, except I can tell you that he had simulated normal objects and their processes so as to copy them and in such an artful way as to make himself invisible within them. As the Vedantists put it, he was the fire within the flint, the razor within the razor case. Later research showed me that in terms of group cultural experience, the name Brahman has been given to this omnipresent immanent entity.
during that short period – a matter of hours or perhaps a day – I was aware of nothing that was not the Programmer. All the things in our pluri-form world were segments or subsections of him. Some were at rest but many moved, and did so like portions of a breathing organism that inhaled, exhaled, grew, changed, evolved toward some final state that by its absolute wisdom it had chosen for itself.
I mean to say, I experienced it as self-creating, dependent on nothing outside it because very simply there was nothing outside it.
I am writing a novel about it; the novel is called V.A.L.I.S., the letters standing for “VAST ACTIVE LIVING INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM.” In the novel a government researcher who is very gifted but a little crazy formulates a hypothesis that declares that, located somewhere in our world, there exists a mimicking organism of high intelligence; it so successfully mimics natural objects and processes that humans are routinely unaware of it.
The Simulacra (1964) Set in the middle of the twenty-first century, The Simulacra is the story of an America where the whole government is a fraud and the President is an android. Against this backdrop Dr. Superb, the sole remaining psychotherapist, is struggling to practice in a world full of the maladjusted. Ian Duncan is desperately in love with the first lady, Nicole Thibideaux, who he has never met. Richard Kongrosian refuses to see anyone because he is convinced his body odor is lethal. And the fascistic Bertold Goltz is trying to overthrow the government. As the events play out, it
